Since being a child I have been mesmerised by the magic and mysticism of photography. The simple function of capturing light (and therefore dark) to create a form and a reflection of a form
I deliberately used a method to trick the camera as it is about to focus, to make a shot which is out of focus and therefore giving little if any indication of the subject. In fact I also deliberately did not frame the subject in camera, so I was not conscious of the potential composition of the finished shot. I photographed the surfaces of mundane things which would minimise the potential of interest in the subject.
I was aiming to create a series of shots which were not of a subject, but a tonal presentation; a series of non-photographs.
